Pick for me a Partita?
on: September 20, 2010, 10:44:18 AM
I'm taking part in a national competition here in my country. So the first round allows 15minutes.
I've chosen Bach's Partita No.1 in Bb initially. I've worked at it for a couple of months now and I am quite happy with the sound I'm getting.
However as I browsed through the Diploma repertoire list for fun, it turns out the Partita no.1 is the easiest(technically) of all.
Seeing that I'm entering in the open category, should I switch over to play Partita No.2 which is technically more demanding?
I have about 1 year and 2 or 3 months left on the clock.
Bearing in mind I am still working on other pieces as well which are no lightweights, I'm in a super dilemma.
Would you recommend me that I change?
Or would you think that the first partita is enough to bring me through to the next round.

If it's played well, it can stand up to the other 5. Those classifications for the bach partitas are quite arbitrary.
