New Site - Chopin's Opus
on: October 01, 2010, 08:39:59 PM
Hello all piano lovers, i am new to this forum and i want to wish the best to all the pianists out there. I just started off a little site about my most loved artist, Frederic Chopin, in it i will write a lot of cool information and tackle rare pieces of him. I will be honored if you could check the site and maybe if you have any ideas about making it better i would really appreciate them.

I have an enormous craving for Chopin's music, which is unusual for most normal and not normal people out there.

This I just love:
Quote
The worry with pianos was that a produce indispensable to strike a wire, afterwards lapse to a strange place but bouncing as well as nonetheless be ready to go again inside of moments. This was eventually completed as well as Cristofori managed to find a approach to emanate this effect.
There's more where that came from: https://chopin-opus.22web.net/history-of-the-piano/

Despite the "English", I think you've done a great job!  (I'm just curious, what is your native tongue?)  The articles are very interesting - I wasn't aware of a lot of the curious andecdotes you mentioned.  Now the only thing we're missing is Chopin's secret sex life.  Maybe anafressi (?)can fill you in on the gory details... ;D  Kidding aside, I can tell you put a lot of love and dedication into this blog.  Congratulations!

I see you've done some fixing up.  I couldn't help thinking there was something Hungarian about the whole project.  Your essays aren't translations of Gat's book are they?  If so that's great cause there is no English version.

hello all, my original site was : chopin-opus.22web.net
and because it was hacked, it got fucked up, and it really pissed me off :(, anyway i made the site again, in the following new address:
chopin-opus.66ghz.com
i put there my articles and made it as the first one, so they do seem the same.   it's a bummer , because the first site i put a lot of work on, at least i had all the articles, so now it's cool.
I want to wrote more on Chopin , than get stuck with computer related stuff, but i guess that's something that happenes now and than...
thanks and have a great day. :)

Thanks for site Shaulhader and your burgeoning interest in Chopin, my first love way way back when I was 16 or so and had reached my limit with my then piano teacher. I heard an LP at a friend's house (high school) the Heroic Polonaise in A flat played by Horowitz, and fell completely for the piece, and HAD to learn it. Of course now at 73 I'm still working on it!

I am glad someone else besides me is enthusiastic about this composer. One of the reasons is that he never discusses HOW he puts his compositions together -- his methods, inspirations, procedures. Why wrote a nocturne instead of a mazurka? Did he actually hear a folk dance to transform into a mazurka or waltz. The preludes are all so varied in style and texture you wonder if he had not accumulated a bunch of disconnected scraps and didn't know what to do with them except make them into "preludes."

There are a couple of interesting looking books out there on these funny peices -- I hope to be able to afford them soon. I do play 16 but I think 19 and 8 are harder. Some oddities are the Bolero and Tarantelle which makes you wonder why he tried those unexpected challenges (which he did well on).

Keep up your curiosity and maybe you will make a great insight or discovery some day.

Speaking of the tarantella, is there anyone who really likes that piece?  It just doesn't sound like Chopin to me.  Does anyone know the history of this piece?  It sounds like he was taking up someones dare to write a tarantella.  ;D

Hello Nearenough and thanks for the kind words.  I agree that one needs a great passion to overcome most of the hurdles to get things done.  My enthusiasm for Chopin is still lasting since i was seven years old, now i am 28.......  i am fascinated by almost every piece written by him. I can only wish that i will have the same passion at the age of 73, you have my respect.

Although there are some fragments of mentions about Chopin's compositional technique, way, and muse, i think it is almost impossible to get a really view of what his aspect on the world of music was.... i wish i could meet him and talk him some...

Hello Birba, i personally agree that the tarantella is a strange piece....only this and the bolero are spanish themed music pieces by Chopin, though it's spanish elements are less powerful than the polish elements which Chopin incorporated in them.  The tarantella is like a whirlwind of hectiness........ though i must admit it has one of the most proliphic codas of chopin's music.
I assume that Chopin experimented alot with new types of music before he published those pieces......he had a good spanish singer friend, Pauline Viardot, which he admired, and i think maybe she helped him in getting information about spanish music...
i hope all is well for everyone,
have a great day,
Shaul.

This is the first time I've heard of this Pauline Viardot!  I think I'll begin visiting your site!
