Avatar - I See You
on: October 03, 2010, 05:55:56 PM
Hi!
I'm new to this forum.
I play piano for about 15 years.
A few months ago I recorded an improvisation about "Avatar - I See You" from Leona Lewis.
I hope you like it! :-)

I would appreciate a comment here or on youtube very much, if you enjoyed listening.

Your playing is very pleasant and melodic. I think perhaps the lack of comments is not because your music isn't good; it is that this sort of playing is perhaps outside the scope of what is usually posted here. I think most people here are into "generative" improvisation, that is, improvisation that has little or no basis upon existing songs, whether they be classical songs from the past or popular songs from today. That said however, all piano improvisation is welcome in this forum. Perhaps you might try freeing yourself; and playing something all your own---forget about existing songs. The results may surprise you. Of course, it may be the case that this isn't your cup of tea...just thought I'd suggest it as an idea.  :)

Regards,
-Derek.

Hey Darek,
thank you!

Ok, that makes sense! :-)
Acutally I do improvise with no basic very often and I hope I will be able to record some videos in the following weeks.
Best wishes,

Piano Street Magazine:
Women and the Chopin Competition: Breaking Barriers in Classical Music

The piano, a sleek monument of polished wood and ivory keys, holds a curious, often paradoxical, position in music history, especially for women. While offering a crucial outlet for female expression in societies where opportunities were often limited, it also became a stage for complex gender dynamics, sometimes subtle, sometimes stark. From drawing-room whispers in the 19th century to the thunderous applause of today’s concert halls, the story of women and the piano is a narrative woven with threads of remarkable progress and stubbornly persistent challenges.
