Argerich and the Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No.3
on: October 10, 2010, 10:23:46 AM
Just recently discovered this video on YouTube and found it quite stunning. Argerich played the 3rd movement of Prokofiev's 3rd Piano Concerto in just 2 minutes (so much faster than another video of Argerich playing the same concerto. Comments?

God, I ADORE that woman.  It didn't even really seem that fast.  Did you notice how she's always sort of embarassed after she's finished and runs to get the conductor to take the bows with her?  Was that the nobel prize concert?

That's pretty crazy awesome. Wasn't there something about the bassoonist starting too fast?

This isn't the whole of the 3rd movement, it's the last part of the third movement. Her playing is awesome though, of course. Notice how the piano seems to be unstable throught this. Maybe someone forgot to lock the wheels.

Argerich owns Prokofiev 3.  Her DG studio recording IMO has never been surpassed.

And I do love all the YouTube videos of Martha...

They don't come much better than Martha :) I can never get enough of her Partita in C minor- I love her piano face as well!
