My Fantasie Impromptu
on: October 14, 2010, 02:22:14 AM
I have found a recording of the Fantasie Impromptu which I have practiced for this March.

I have practiced it since last year. However, I have practiced less because of work.

I am open-minded and I always look for improving my piano.  I accept suggestions as long as they are polite.

About the Impromptu, I would like some tips.

Hi. I don't want to sound hard but I don't think you are ready to play this piece yet.

But I'm not writing this to discourage you  :). I'll give you my advice to improve (disclaimer: it's not a short nor easy way, it's not a magic solution, just a working one that requires patience and efforts): forget about fantasie-impromptu, at least for a while. In my opinion it's right now beyond your possibilities. Practice some easier pieces that you can afford during some time (some months or two/three years, that depends a lot on the person). These pieces will give you an enough background to play in a near future fantasie-impromptu but, please, don't try to build your house beginning on the roof. And also could be a good advice to look for a teacher who guides you, helps to choose the repertoire and watch your playing and progress :)

Thanks for your comments, and of course, I have a teacher who gives me piano classes.

As you said, it's not for discouraging, but I hope to put more downloads of what I have played (and I have practiced).

Great effort!

In terms of practice, keep hammering away at the "6 notes versus 4" timing in the main theme. Beat that dead horse to death. And to avoid the monotony, try practicing it in different rhythms (Jazz etc).

If I were in front of you, I'd literally draw verticaly lines connecting the notes in the right hand and left hand that you want to hit at EXACTLY the same time.

The best thing you can do is first find an excellent piano teacher.
Here are some suggestion to make it better
- practice with meteronome to achieve eveness in both hands seperetly
When you are doing the four against three rhythm you need to know your landmarks, meaning when they line up In general though the 16 notes- the fast notes- lead the triplet so they start together then the 2nd note of the 16 comes then the next note of the triplet  and they go back and forth until the line up again at the next beat.
Practice the rhythm is small sections before combinding them togther and playing the whole thing.

Be patient and keep practicing hard!
