My Program -- Opinions Please
on: October 15, 2010, 05:37:59 PM
Chords and Scales in quick tempo
Scales and Chords in moderate tempo
Arpeggios and silences

--Intermission--

Arpeggios quickly and slowly
Chords and scales
Chords, slowly
Scales, chords, arpeggios

Encore (if it happens) -- a surprise of chords and/or scales and/or arpeggios

Played musically and arranged in a way that makes you feel things when you hear them, of course.  $50/seat.

I would almost rather hear Schumann.

Well I have read (a while ago, somewhere) that the alphabet wasn't only created as a random order of letters but a sort of "secret" protocol of the evolution/creation. The Word.
So, why not?
Scales and arpeggios are the musical alphabet.

Great program, but do you really have to play it musically?

I like your second half. You start and finish it with arpeggios, really creative idea!
What i miss on the other hand are dotted rhythms. Seriously what's a concert without them... da bada bada bada bada.... oh i love 'em.

By the way, i'm asking myself how you will warm up before that concert?

Yeah, I'm afraid my artistic sense won't let me go without at least attempting to play it musically.  Don't worry, all, I believe you will really enjoy my interpretations of chords, scales, and arpeggios.  Don't worry, there will be dotted rhythms, and legato and slurs, and dynamics ... that's all in there.  Some of it I will play in a Baroque style probably, some of it I may play in Classical style, some of it Romantic and so on.  It will actually be incredibly interesting, and who knows?  Maybe some of it will have come out of my own piano from yesterday??  Yippeee!

Anyway, those things may include some composer's names, too -- those are these guys along the way who organized different sets of those and such.

How will I warm up ... hmmm ...  me think about it and get back to you.

I would almost rather hear Schumann.
There really are times when I wonder if, by comparison to your attitude towards Robert Schumann, Herr Schickelgruber's towards the Jews was somewhat more sympathetic. I may be quite wrong, of course, but I wonder nevertheless...

I seriously think, this is going a bit too far...didn't expect to read anything like that in one of your posts, sorry.

You could add some Hanon in there.  Maybe some drones.  Or save the drones for the encore.  Or subsitute some finger patterns for Hanon.   You also left out octaves.

Haha... That's almost my daily routine.

Yeah, there will definitely be some five-finger patterns in there.  But, regarding octaves, don't forget that those will be in some form of scale-patterns or arpeggios.

I was expecting you to say thirds were implied like octaves in the scales part.  You must be doing them in fourths and fifths.

I've heard professionals use thirds a lot in their recitals.

I think this is a wonderful idea!! I see it not in terms of just basically doing the building block patterns but using pieces which highlight the use of them. It might be a real interesting program for musicians and non musicians alike.

Not too many thirds in my life, sorry.  :-. Maybe next recital :).

The highlight of the evening:  Chords, slowly.
And the last part of your program, Wow.  Scales, chords, and arpeggios!
You've got your own encore built-in. :)

Thanks for noticing my last number, I purposely wanted to have it all in one.  You know, to end with a grand finale.
