Hi shoenberg3,

I just listened to the Liszt etude.  Three things: Your playing displays a big technique and artistry, and the piano is well up to the task.  But the recording equipment...  it's awful and mars your wonderful performance by creating horrible distortions in the sound.  I would guess this is a a webcam microphone plugged into a laptop.  If at some point you could buy even a small, quality portable recorder such as the Zoom4 or equivalent, you would be far better off!  Also, I thought I heard some conversation in the background while you were playing which was a bit distracting.  Again, I appreciate your musicianship and artistry.

P.S. It makes for a better recording if you get the recording equipment in place first, then hit the recording button afterward.  Right now you have the mic live while you're going about doing your set-up. ;)

Definitely agree. You're plenty good enough for an investment in some better recording tech. Posting a recording like this is almost pointless, because at your level, nuances more than anything are what's up for critique, and we just can't hear them via whatever it is you're using.

I'd also suggest the Edirol R-09 or R-09 HQ. I haven't used the HQ, which is the newer model and around 300 bucks, I think; but I have last generation's R-09 and it works superlatively for such a small device, and you could probably find a pretty cheap one on ebay or the like.

Great playing overall. Can't wait to hear more in higher quality.
