A Jazz Piano Christmas 2022
There was a lot of love in the air when NPR’s annual A Jazz Piano Christmas concert and live taping took place this past weekend, Dec. 3, at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington. After more than two years of pandemic and lockdowns, audiences have been eager to get out and experience live music again and this event showed that plainly. Read more >>

Hi danilo,

I have to confess that I've not played much modern music (1940 is about my limit ;D).  Schoenberg has not been one of my favorite composers over the years, although his very early late romantic pieces can be quite beautiful.  The two that you present here would be more of an acquired taste for me, although I'm sure that many of the younger pianists here would take to them more readily.  Having said that, I believe that you have given a fine account of these works for the listener.  I enjoyed your playing very much.  Also I appreciate your presenting music that is off the beaten path and less well known.  Thanks for posting them.
Interpreting music means exploring the promise of the potential of possibilities.

I feel so dumb.  I was confusing these with op. 11.  I haven't heard them in a long long time.  I even played them - they are wonderful, and you really perform them perfectly.  A myriad of colors but understated at the same time.  Waiting for the others...

Rachfan, I'm very flattered that you take the time to listen to this, even though it is a bit out of your musical tastes! The truth is, the Schittke and these Schoenberg pieces represent my very first attempt at such music (I've otherwise stuck to Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Chopin and Brahms, extremely conservative and old-fashioned!). But there it is, it's never too late...

Thanks again, Birba! Yes, I thought you mixed something up when you wrote "all three of them", but now I need to check up what Op 11 is...
