Hi there,

I agree -- it's a very complex work, rarely understood (and therefore, I think, rarely performed), but very beautiful and heroic.  My former teacher Ann Schein played it at Aspen one year.  That was the ONLY performance I've ever heard of it, and I've never seen it programmed otherwise.

Kudos to you if you choose to learn it!

HI angelluci1 !

I agree with you:people don't understand Humoreske, also it's very complex piece - and therefore rarely performed! But,what  bother me most is: there isn't any word about this piece  in any literature (lexicon,
encyclopedia...)
I played Humoreske on my degree recital. I think the entire Schumann's emotonal life is in this piece !
I have CD with Horovic's performance.

Hi  :DI also did played it,2 years ago,it is very complex, very beautiful. It is hard to be understand by the public who is not very deep in music, and also it is hard to be listen because it is long and full of philosophical substrats. For me,schumann is very close to my heart,he always was,so I loved this piece very much. Also me I did not heared it played somewhere.Interesting...Sorry about not very good english ;)
