Voicing 2 note chords
on: November 22, 2010, 02:56:09 PM
What's the best way of learning how to voice 2 note chords in the right hand? - I'm trying to play ff for one note and pp for another ( the fact that the pp note is on the thumb and the ff note in on the baby finger also doesn't seem to help matters...)

There's a well known preparation exercise that consist in playing the chord mantaining pressed only the note we want to voice while releasing very fast the one we want to make as secondary (I don't know if I explained this well. In other words, the exercise consist in playing the note to voice as a long note and the secondary one as a short one, an stacatto semi-quaver for example).

You should play a lot of bach.Though, the fast way is both as pianist said,  but also to angle your hand a little bit to the tope note.
