Rachmaninoff - Musical Moment no 4 - Élider DiPaula
on: November 24, 2010, 05:22:38 PM
Recital at Virginia & West Virginia Music Teachers Association - Fall Collaborative Conference. Master Class with Barbara Nissman. James Madison University, Harrisonburg, VA. United States.
The recording doesn`t have a good quality, but I would like to share with you!

You're right, the recording doesn't have good quality - to the extent that it's not really possible to hear more than that the player can hit most of the right notes. Maybe all the right notes, can't tell. Excuse my rudeness, but I really don't see the point of posting recordings so bad they don't give a decent impression of the player - especially in such standard repertoire.

Sorry! I was trying to share my performance! but if you have a best recording of yourself playing all those "right" notes in a very good quality, please I would appreciate to listen!... As you can see, I was playing, not recording, somebody after the recital gave me this video! Élider DiPaula

I've been interested in Barbara Nissman. What was the class like?

Hi, Elider. I thank that yours was a pretty good performance. I don't care about the sound quality. I guess that you may have received more positive answers if you'd posted this at Audition Room and not here (I don't really see the point in posting home videos here at Performance forum).

Good performance; the sound is not that bad and the performance has verve, momentum and spirit. What's interesting is the nature of the piece. How did Rach come up with the idea? It's sounds "primitive." A simple downward scale, repeated almost in a self-mocking way and a clangorous also incessant chordal melody that sort of goes nowhere, is repetitive and has no development. I like its "Slavic" bell-like clanging.

Good performance.
A few comments if I may:
-be more in control. Control the music, don't let the music control you. I feel like you are a bit rushed sometimes.
-more rubato would be welcome
