Flash Mob
on: November 26, 2010, 02:34:28 PM

We had this happening all over Vancouver during the Olympics last February. More and more this is taking place all across Canada. This is small town Ontario (Welland) close to the Buffalo border.

We need to get more of the world doing this sort of thing………

Happy viewing…..

Indeed it sure is wonderful.

About a half century ago while my college chorus was on tour we were served a wonderful dinner by a service organization who sponsored us. We mentioned to each other that maybe we should sing something in appreciation and we did, right from our seats. You should have seen the reaction by our hosts..

Thanks so much for that.  I got a knot in my throat listening to it.  I'm so damned proud to be an american - or canadian - same difference.  ;D
This is something similar.  But the one you posted was more spectacular and significant!

Yes enthusiasm is contagious. This is one way that Canadians have discovered gets people involved in music even if they are not interested.

I have been humming this song all morning……see??

So I am in one of my churches this morning prepping the grand for a Christmas concert. To test the instrument I played about 16 bars of that song.

Then, upon leaving I dropped by the office just a few rooms down the hall. The secretary is busy on the keyboard humming Hallelujah!....haha…

You see what happens??  The young lad at 3:05 is taking it all in you can see that he wants to be involved; someone grab him and get him into music…….That’s a good one you know for everyone; the lyrics are easy.

Cheers,

I'd like to see For unto us a Child is born on Dec 26 amid the throngs of shoppers searching for deals.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

'Flash mob' results in Calif. mall evacuation

– Tue Dec 21, 1:14 am ET

ROSEVILLE, Calif. – Fire officials say a Northern California mall was evacuated after nearly 5,000 holiday revelers showed up for a "flash mob" organized by a local choral society.

Fire Inspector Tom Dodaro tells KXTV that the spontaneous holiday musical performance at the Roseville Galleria drew a huge crowd.

Officials say there were reports of the floor and foundation moving and creaking near the food court, which spurred the evacuation.

Flash mobs are groups of singers or dancers whose surprise performances in public places are often recorded and posted online.

The group Monday was there to sing Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus" in an event organized by the Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra.

The evacuation was orderly, and the singers planned to sing outside the mall.

Terrific contribution, Bob. Did you miss not hearing the other ending which JPS did with his concert band? This parade version sounded very good andnow I'm not so sure ending I prefer.

No I don't. I think it's where we sing "be kind to your web footed friends..."

Frankly I've played so many of those marches so many times they are all starting to blur.

There is an organization dedicated to doing these "random acts of culture" here in the US.

https://www.knightarts.org/random-acts-of-culture

Most of them happen around Philadelphia, but they are going to other cities also.

I love flash mobs!!

We did one for opera scenes -- it was fun, albeit, it was quite odd with an electric piano, haha.

*Bob wonders why there are no grand piano flash mobs.*

Actually that might work at a music store.
