Where to get a song transcribed?
on: July 28, 2004, 11:22:37 PM
Hey everyone! I recently heard this AWESOME piano/acoustic version of "She Talks To Angels" by the Black Crowes and now I can't wait to learn it but I haven't been able to find it anywhere. Does anyone here know who/where I can get a song transcribed (I imagine for a fee)? I have the song in MP3 format which I can email or direct to an online download location from my site.

Enthusiasts out there, you have got to hear this version of this popular song. Wonderfully composed, it will even surprise those who don't even like the Black Crowes. Thanks a bunch!

Why dont you put up a link for us to click on and listen to?  There are a number of composers on the forum who would love to write it down on manuscript for fun, not a fee!

Yes, this is probably one of the best places to ask. I personally have some experience with transcriptions. If I could get a hold of a recording, I'd be willing to give it a listen.

Sure .... but I'm just going to put up an active link to the song for a day or two cause I don't want to get into trouble (especially with the crackdown of filesharing ).

I put the song on a page where you can "right-click" the link and download to your computer. The song is 6min+ so the download will take a bit (sorry), but  I'm most interested in the first minute of the song since the rest is manageable/repetitive.

Hope you enjoy this song as much as I do and thanks a bunch for your time and help!

sorry bud, it's too much for me right now....You should contact Darkwind or Motrax- they have composed some impressive stuff and should help you out.

Have a listen to Procol Harum's "A Whiter Shade of Pale".  I bet you would love that!

Donjuan - that's fine. What did you think of the song though? Pretty cool huh?! I'm curious to know where I might be able to find the song you referenced Procol Harum's "A Whiter Shade of Pale". Have a link/location?

* Everyone else - If you get a chance to check out the awesome Black Crowes song I linked above, let me know if you'd be able to transcribe a bit. Thanks!

I liked the black crowes song, although it isnt my favorite genre.. It had a nice flavour though.

As for Whiter Shade, I got mine off Morpheus.  I have an mp3 of it downloaded, but I dont know how to put it up on the net for you to download.  I am willing to try if you could help me out...

The easiest thing for you to do would be to get Morpheus, and search for "A Whter Shade of Pale", and download Procol Harum's recording.

donjuan - I'll check that out hopefully sometime this weekend.

Anyone else get a chance to listen to this song? I am really interested in learning this song, but I can't seem to find the music anywhere and to try and figure this piece out would drive me insane. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The link to this RARE SONG is listed above in my previous post.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the link.   If I had more time I would try to transcribe it, but I think if accuracy is key, it would be better left with someone else more experienced with transcribing.

jb - I know, isn't that a great song?! It's just a bit out of my decoding abilities and I want to learn it correctly. Where, or how, do I get in contact with these "composers" that people keep posting that "would be interested"? I'm new to these forums and still learning my way around, but noone else has seemed to show interest.

Did anyone else want to attempt transcribing this song? If not, could you maybe pass my request along to someone you know who may enjoy doing this? This song is really great, and I think the person who does actually transcribed will come to enjoy it just as much as I do. :-)

Thanks for your time and assistance!

I am downloading the song right now, i havn't heard it yet, ill do my best.  One question, is it a pop song? if it is, then if you transfer the song's melody into c major and play it with your right hand, the harmony of the left hand is always:

1) C E G
2) G B D
3) A C E
4) G B D
5) F A C
6) E G B
7) D F A
8) G B D

Then keep on repeating.

If it is a more complicated song, which is 30% of the time, that pattern will not work.

Good, the song is just finished dl ^^

johnjwong - Thanks for taking the time to try and translate this song. As you probably found out, this song is one of the 30% that is out of the norm. Since I can already play this song on guitar, I know is based off of E, D, and C however in this piano version, he is dramatically including some great fingerwork to emphasize the melody line.

ANy luck transcribing?

ditryin:

I downloaded the song and I'll give it a try. The only thing is I've got a lot of stuff going on so I'll work it in as I can. It may not take too long once I get going.

Let me know in this thread if someone else finishes it before I do. I'll check in periodically myself to see if that happens.

In the meantime go to the Finale website:

    www.finalemusic.com

and download their free software for printing out a Finale file. I use Finale 2004 so you'll need their latest version. This free application will let you view and print any Finale file. I believe they have both Windows and Mac versions. (I use the Windows version but I believe the resulting files are cross-platform.)

That way when I send you the file you'll have a way to print it out.

Wish me luck. The piano part is fairly straightforward, gospel-flavored rock piano. I used to play this kind of thing years ago when I was in bands.
