Doerrfeld Etude #3
on: November 28, 2010, 01:47:00 PM
I'd like to share with you some of my work of a decidely classical nature for feedback. I have 4 etudes and 2 toccatas which I intend to publish (especially if there's significant interest).

I just posted a blog article on Etude #3 along with a recording made at a recital at Eastman School of Music in 1984. You can view the article at https://www.billdoerrfeld.com/?p=1270

I'd be curious to get feedback on this work as well as ascertain interest in performing such work.

Warning: This piece is extremely difficult to perform. But, it's a show-stopper (IMO). I think it's fair to say it's somewhat in the tradition of Prokofiev, but, the incessant "shuffle" rhythym gives it a different spin (from the jazz tradition).

Thanks in advance for your thoughts. I appreciate it.

Nice one! Check this guy out, folks, I know we've had a couple of spammers on this board lately but Mr Doerrfeld has some good music he's promoting. Really effective piano writing. Yes, please publish it, I'll take one!

Thanks Richard for your kind words. I hope to publish and record in the future a dedicated volume of piano works I composed a while ago which include 4 etudes and 2 toccatas. That requires a bit of effort, but, I hope to get there.

I appreciate the support.

Regards,

Bill
