Joy To The World and Vivace
on: December 04, 2010, 08:50:43 PM
Well Wolfi said I should post here... so I will... even though it's not good yet  :-\  :-[ but well I'm a little confused and I thought if maybe someone would have some advice for me. I will be playing these two pieces for my Christmas recital in a little more than two weeks. so I'm a little worried... cause I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing wrong and what right...  :-\ So any advice would be really great :)
The first piece is Joy To The World and the second Vivace (J. Ph. Kirnberger)
And sorry for posting now when I'm still not very good at playing them.  :-[ I hope I will get better in two weeks and I can post them again then!  :-\ :P  :)

Joy to the world would benefit from a softer touch, more legato (connected) and a bit of pedal.
The Kirnberger sounds much smoother :)

Keep practicing, I'm sure if you forget a bit about your concerns, let it just flow, more legato and the Kirnberger a bit faster than now, it will be very good :)

You're improving leaps and bound, littletune! I think the Kirnberger Vivace is particularly good. As Wolfi has already said, the Joy To The World needs some connection from the pedal. Let us know how it all goes.  :)

Thank you very very much Wolfi and Furtwaengler!!  :)  :)  After my last piano lesson I was more worried about the Vivace because I kinda learned something wrong and I always started playing too quietly with the left hand and then started really loudly with the right... and my teacher said that wasn't right... so I was kinda confused... so I'm really glad that you say Vivace now sounds ok!  :)  :)  8) And for the Joy To The World my teacher said when I first started learning it that I would be playing it with the pedal but now she didn't say anything about it anymore... maybe she was just waiting for me to learn to play it without mistakes first... I'll ask her about the pedal next time  :)
Thank you for listening and commenting!  8)  :)  8)

Oh I still have to post picture of my birds!!! I almost forgot... but I have to find a good one!  :)
Well now I will post recording of my Christmas recital!  :P Of Vivace and Joy To The World (it's both on one recording and first I played Vivace and then Joy to the World). And I don't start playing right away because I had to lower the seat  :-\ or whatever it's called)... and I always have problems with piano chairs  ::) I don't even know how they're called  :-\ I know it's not a chair but it's something weird  :P
Oh and I didn't play Joy To The World with a pedal cause my teacher said I should just play the way I learned it. And I don't like so much the way I played dynamics specially not at the beginning of Vivace  ::) but what can you do I guess I was too nervous  ::)

So I just wanted to post this and wish everyone a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!  :)  :)  :)

And here is a picture of me having problems with piano "chair" and being weird...  ::)

And here's me playing piano and being weird  ::) (like always  :P )

And here a recording. (I start playing after about 15 to 20 seconds).........
HAPPY HOLIDAYS! :)  :)  8)

And here my two birds that you can hear a lot of times singing when I'm playing my piano :)

The little yellow one is Timika and the other is Pivi (or: PV)

I will post two more pictures of them in Pictures thread cause I don't know if Bob (and others too) will see this here...

So you see now who is singing in the background a lot of times :) :)

Just listening now.  I know it's a bit late for Christmas, but with Joy to the World just think of singing.  It will help you achieve that legato you are looking for.

Me thinks Messiaen would have liked your Christmas music + birdsong recording.   8)
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

nice job on the pieces! I had two birds too, but unfortunately one escaped. they were both parakeets, but i never got them to talk. I did get them to sit on my finger though! i don't know if parakeets can talk, it might just be cockatoos and parrots.

Thank you Quantum!! :) Thanks for the advice! :) I guess I could think of singing with other pieces too not just Christmas ones :) Thanks!  8)

Thank you!!  :) Well the smaller bird that I have doesn't talk either, but she makes really nice and cute sounds sometimes but she doesn't want to sit on the finger :)  :)

Oh ok  ??? ... so you're saying I'm lying?  :-\ ... Ok... thanks!!
You mean cause I'm so tall? cause yes I'm really tall and people say all the time: Oh you look older cause you're sooooo tall! do you have something wrong with your hormones or something? And it makes me feel really bad and like I'm some kind of a freak!  :( Cause first I liked being tall but then when I got taller then my mum at 11 I didn't like it anymore at all! But I really can't do anything about it can I?

Oh ok then it's cool if you're kidding  :P And thanks, I guess that's a good thing if you think I talk like I was 16... I guess it means I sound smart!  :D  :P  :) But it would be even better if I was playing piano like I was 16... and not like I'm 8  ::) or 6...  :-\ or 4  :-[ Oh well  :P  :)

But seriously, you shouldn't be sad when someone talks about your height. Yes, you are a lot bigger then most of the 12's girls, but this is not a bad thing. You're an amazing person, so mature, responsible, and you already have a goal on your life. Don't think about these small things. Just practice, hear, talk, dream, eat PIANO and forget everything and everyone else.

Thank you for listening. (or...reading? anyway...you got it....)

Thank you for writing that! :) You're really nice :)

Well I know I shouldn't care about things like that... and sometimes I don't care... but sometimes it just makes me feel like I'm so weird and not right at all! (And besides I think people think girls who are small and tiny are more cute  ::) but whatever!  ::) )
Well I found one book where it says how you can calculate how tall you're going to be... and I got that I was going to be...  :o 178,5 cm tall!!  :o (that's as tall as my dad is... or maybe even 1 cm taller!)  :P I'm thinking maybe I should become a model  :D (except I'm not pretty and skinny enough  ::) ) or maybe a basketball player (but I'm like the worst ever at basketball, I'm like running away from where the ball is cause I wouldn't know what to do with it if I got it! and cause it kinda scares me  ::) ) So no...  :-\  :P I just hope it's not more difficult to play piano if you're tall!!! But I mean at least I'll be able to reach more keys on the piano! Now I can reach a 9th (well it's not very easy  :-\ ) but I'm sure I'll be able to reach a 9th easily some day and even a 10th!!  :P So at least it's good being tall for something!  :)  :P
