Hey there!

You should have a look at Beethoven's 'Für Elise', a piece played very often when reaching that level, and not too easy; it has a nice middle part.

You could also check on some of the late Chopin waltzes, like KK IVb Nr.10 and 11.

If you're looking for some classical music, have a look at some of Clementi's and Beethoven's sonatinas..there are also a few good ones by Kuhlau.

For romantic pieces I suppose Schumann's Album for the young and children's corner (I'm not sure about that album's name, in German it's Kinderszenen) might be interesting.

Maybe some of these pieces are too easy, but they're general suggestions anyway. So, have a look at them and see yourself.

And good luck with your studies.

Regards,

you know what is really funny, i was working on the fur elise then i gave up a few months ago....   Let me get my music and i'll tell you the part i was having trouble with.   it is as soon as the 32nd notes start.  the part that starts with a 5th then an octave ten 7th, 6th, 5th, and thena  forth.   i can play the rest of the music.   The bad thing is i don't have  a music teacher right now.    :'(  i need some pieces to keep working on.   im currently working on rondo alla turca by mozart and i guess i can start working the fur elise again.  i have it memorized pretty well already so thats a start!  and thanks for your suggestions!

Hit the right keys at the right moment and the instrument plays itself - Johann Sebastian Bach

So you're talking about measure 30-34, hm? Well, if you have probs, try it this way: Try to move your right wrist (sorta shake it left-right-left-right etc.). Then the 2nd finger around the c, hold it and reach an octave with 1 and 5 - do the wrist move again, until you feel comfortable. Then, while moving, try to close in with your thumb step by step, e.g. pressing g, a, b ,c and then the d with 3, using your thumb again with the first 32nc in measure 31.
Once you're comfortable with that shaking movement (I'm sorry, but I don't know how to express that any differently).
It's interesting you don't have difficulties with the part starting in measure 77, coz I thought of this movement as being more difficult since a legato isn't easy to produce there.

Let me know about the pieces you selected.

Regards, - and good luck!

diabolos, you were right.  i needed to relax my right and like rotate my hand or wrist.  I have already learned that part.  I went straight to the hard part.   I usually do that if im not impatient.   Thank you for your help.  Now it is time to put more music into this piece....   This song has strong emotions attached to it for me at least.   The "thunder"  part is nice with the low a's.   The triplets are alot nice.   I can't wait until i can play this one more musical.  Thanks again!

I can finally play the whole song smoothly and i have put alot of dynamics into the piece i felt should have been there.   I guess it is time to move on to another piece.    I just started sightreading a sonatina by Frideric Handel,  that was almost all rightreadable.   i had trouble on measure 77 and that was about it.  I think i won't study this one.   I just ordered a chopin book and the moonlight sonata by beethovan and also the pathetique?  sonata by beethovan.   The sonatas have all movements.   I think i might start on the moonlight sonata next and possible a few preludes  by chopin.   Any other ideas?

What about Edvard Grieg's Lyric Pieces?  They are delightful, descriptive piano miniatures and Debussy called them " Bonbons de Neige"- sweets made of snow.

They range in difficulty from  easy, as in the opus 12 set, to advanced, represented by some of the opus 65 pieces.  Many of the Lyric Pieces have become very popular such as "Butterfly", "To Spring" and "Wedding Day at Troldhaugen".

Try the hauntingly beautiful "Elgy" and the lilting "Melody" from the opus 47 set.  These are not difficult and will be a source of musical delight and nordic charm.

I would suggest that it is more sensible to get them in the complete book of Lyric Pieces, rather than getting them in separate opus number groups.
