New Compostion Recording Potential for New Album
on: January 12, 2011, 04:23:46 PM
This is a composition I have recorded with the potential to go on my next album. It's definitely a first draft and will be re-recorded if I do end up using it, but would really appreciate any feedback at all. I understand this is perhaps a more traditionally classical forum so would be really interested in your opinions! I am trying to get this album better than my first one which I'm finding quite hard!

Thanks in advance!

I really liked it! I especially LOVE the two soft, slow sections - quite a lovely melody.

After the first slow part in the beginning, I liked when it suddenly went faster and a little louder. It got me all excited, but then nothing happened. The left hand kept playing arpeggios with very little variation, and my ear wanted more. Maybe you could take those arpeggios and drop them into a lower octave, playing them a little louder, then return to where you were - in the original octave and volume of that section. Even better, you could change the progression of the chords to add more interest and 'build-up'.

It really is a lovely piece, and I would not have bothered to comment if I didn't genuinely enjoy it. Good work. :)

Thanks very much! That's genuinely very helpful. I am happy with the slow melody but I have been working on trying to get the louder bits to be more 'exciting' and your input was really very constructive indeed! Really appreciate it.
