Lost early works by Liszt
on: January 17, 2011, 07:21:04 AM
Does anyone know about Liszt's lost early works including these Piano Sonatas (S.725)? Even though they're lost :(, I love the first page that Liszt luckily copied later in his life of his first sonata.

I believe the last place where they were was at Liszt's house perhaps towards the end of his life. What's rather interesting is that a lot of his early works are lost, and again interestingly, most of his lost early works are from 1825.

If anyone has any idea about all of their whereabouts now? Any information would be fine.

P.S. I have a feeling that perhaps all of these works are in one private collection or in someone's house, because it seems peculiar that most of his works from that time are lost.
Currently working on:
*Prelude, Op.23 N.4 (Rachmaninoff)
*Prelude & Fugue in F major, WTC II (Bach)
...not fully decided on what else to start (most likely will be a Liszt, Schubert, or Medtner)...

Hello, I am not sure if I can post this late on this topic but since you mention the first page of this sonata and i was not able to find it anywhere I would like it to be posted in this topic, if possible.
Thanks
