(Beginner) Looking to buy first Piano, help deciding?
on: January 22, 2011, 04:07:45 AM
Hi guys, just joined this forum :D

Anyway I'm looking to buy a Digital Piano with a £500-£600 budget maximum, I've been recommended to look at the 'YAMAHA Clavinova' series of pianos on ebay for my budget, is that a good suggestion and if so any specific models I should look out for and avoid? if not get a completely different piano! I don't know much of what to look for when purchasing a piano and it will be my first so any detailed help is appreciated, thank you :)

Make sure you get one with weighted or semi-weighted keys. All I use is Yamaha but I always buy new so I can't help with used prices. I play a Yamaha PSR keyboard with an Alesis Micron synth on top. Neither one is a DP but I've dabbled on some. For a DP I like the CP5 or P95, both by Yamaha. Just be sure the keys in whatever you buy has a good piano replication feel to it.

Good hunting, Jimbo

Hey Kurt and Gaiz,
First let me welcome you Gaiz to the forum.
I agree with you Kurt on the P155. I played one and it was very tempting to get but I'm presently trying to save for a Motif. The P155 won't be a console type like a clav, but if you get one Gaiz, you wont be sorry.....

Musically, Jimbo
