Were to look for a bargain priced piano.
on: January 25, 2011, 07:05:51 AM
I am looking for a bargain priced piano. I prefer the German makes, as they are more expressive to me than the Yamahas or Kawais, but that's just a matter of taste.
I heard that someone bought one for £2000! If I could get a deal like that that would be great! Training to be a concert pianist I need a piano which is recent, so I have ruled out 1930's/40's makes! If anyone has any suggestions, that would be much appreciated. Thanks.

If you are in the U.S., look at Craigslist and pianoadoption.com. It will take a lot of legwork, no doubt. When you find the one, have it inspected by a piano tuner.
Happy hunting!

If you can locate a good piano restore tech in your area, they should be able to help.

Since you've posted prices in pounds, I'd have to assume you are in the UK so I can't really help with bargain priced pianos. But, why would you rule out pianos manufactured in the 30's and 40's. Pianos built during that era a wonderful. What you find may not be original condition and could have been refurbished or rebuilt 20, 30 years ago and be in fine shape at still a bargain price.
Do some serious looking. Don't be in a rush. There's some real gems out there at that price. I'd be wary of FREE.
