buying a grand in singapore. advice needed
on: January 25, 2011, 11:54:21 AM
I'm considering between a

kawai SK2 for 40K SGD

and RX-3 for 26.5K SGD

Can anyone tell me

if 1) the price is right. because I heard that my fren bought an SK3 for Sgd30K+ about 5 years back.
  2) assuming the price is right, is the 13K sgd difference worth it?

  3) any other models to consider. i don't like yamaha though and the choices of grands are limited in SG.

thanks in advance.

My home is Australia, so an RX-3 for 26.5K SGD is an absolute bargain. Shigeru SK3 for 40K would be real nice. For SK2, you should try the piano first and see whether you can justify spending that much more for a technically smaller instrument. I like the Shigerus better in many ways than the RX - the treble sings more, and by default the action, voicing, and regulation don't seem to throw up as much fuss as the RX as shipped.

Between the two I'd go for the SK2.
Just out of curiosity, what don't you like about Yamaha?

Okay we have more or less decided on the SK2.

but may I know what is the price of Sk2 world wide? brand new of course. would it be cheaper to import one from japan directly?

SK2 in western countries are easily more than what you're bound to pay in Singapore - we in Australia salivate at the prices you pay for those Shigerus! So in Australia, I'd expect to pay at least the equivalent of 50k SGD for that SK2, and around 40k SGD for the RX-3.
