Piano studies in Europe
on: January 29, 2011, 08:37:21 PM
Hi everyone.

I'm a 17 year old piano student from (and living in) Norway. I wish to study music, ultimately resulting in a career in piano performance. (Don't worry, I do have a plan B already...) I'm not very technically advanced, but I have had (and am still having) a very steep learning curve, and I am also very musically advanced. I will start studying at a college/conservatory/etc (if all goes well) from summer 2012, so I will be applying in perhaps a little less than a year from now. I will of course apply here in Oslo as well, but I'd rather study in some other european country. My preferred countries would be the Netherlands, or France. My question to you is: What are some good conservatories here in Europe that are worth considering travelling abroad for? I will take a trip this autumn (we have a free week sometime around october) to some of these countries to have lessons and a talk with teachers, so I would also appreciate recommendations of some teachers regardless of conservatories? I said my preferred countries would be France or the Netherlands, and by that I stand, but I am still more than open to other countries as well.

Thanks in advance,
V

If it tickles your fancy, you could try getting in touch with a few Russian music schools, among others:
Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moscow, or
Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory in St.Petersburg.
