I'm sick of the internet

I am sick of piano street, youtube, facebook, the whole lot. I'm not on facebook, twitter or anything. Just thought I'd come on here to tell you all that I think you that if you think that all this is good, you are *** stupid. Wake up and realise that it's unhealthy to sit and type messages to complete strangers. It's degrading, dehumanising. CRAP. I'm leaving the whole damn internet. Sod the lot of you. I'll get my passion and life back.

So watch your language.  Also who needs another dopy negative adult around.  The internet rocks.  Its like there having this whole uprising in egypt and getting freedom because of the internet and twitter. Plus I got to meet all of the cool people here.

russda_man, how old are you? I forgot to mention in the other post I felt much the way you did when I was about 16 or so. In fact, I got caught up in many battles on forums and it actually quite literally killed my passion for a hobby I loved. So, you have a point. But, time heals, and I've got my passion back and now I'm mature enough to use the internet without getting caught up in battles. I'd take the blame for any badness I experienced from the internet in the past. Granted the internet made it much easier for the badness to occur. So it would be tempting to just blame the internet. And...to be honest there's nothing wrong with controlling one's access to it. Some people get software to limit how often they use it for internet browsing or what not. It is a valid concern you have and I hope you find a way to work it out for yourself, though I suspect before long you will find that you will need the internet again rather than shut it out completely.  


oh, and kudos on not being on facebook, I'm not either. I left it a while ago. But that's mainly for personal reasons, I just don't like interacting with people on a purely social level enough to merit remaining on such a website. Instead, I join interest related forums like this one where I'm guaranteed to find something that interests me.

First of all, the internet is a great thing. Like all great things, it can be abused by people staying on it all day, but it moderation, it's a great resource.

Second of all, this is an amazing forum. Most people don't have access to amazing pianists, or musicians, so this is a great place to get advice. And obviously you thought so too at one point, since you have posted here over 126 times....

I know how you feel - I have been there, too. For me, those feelings of hatred toward the Internet - and feeling like its victim - came as a result of me spending too much time on it. What can happen is that you look to the Internet for connections and relationships that should come from real people, as you say. If you use it wisely and moderately, though, the Internet can be a good thing with the potential to enhance life's enjoyments - and responsibilities. I am also not on facebook, or anything else really. But, I enjoy this site, because I don't personally have people in my life that I can call and ask about the Chopin Etude I'm working on. They don't even know what an Etude is. I go to concerts alone. How cool is it that I can come to the computer and join in discussions with people from around the world who are working on the same pieces I am? And that I can connect with others who have similar interests and goals?

Granted, there are times when I post a question and no one answers, and yes, it feels like I've wasted my time. I wonder why I'm bothering to type things to strangers anyway. But you know what? To be honest, my own family and friends ignore me and don't give me the attention I always want, either. Oh, well. You can't be so sensitive and let it get to you. And don't worry about what others are doing. Just do what you have to do to make your life the way you want it to be.

whacha talking about. The internet is great. Anything I could ever want is right here. Any media, the latest songs, all available to see and listen to at the judicial expense of a streamer. Populace listings, phone numbers, phone records, indexes, all available for my eyes to pry.

Hell if I wanted to spend the time I could look up some average dead guys entire life history. I am able to use millions of peoples minds to collaborate something that just would randomly pop into mine.

To me, the internet is not just some toy, it is the means to put to use billions of people for my random thoughts.

I can ask a random question and have 30 answers before the days done on yahoo answers detailing every aspect of the answer. Isn't that just so convenient.

And let me tell you, back when I was in school we didn't have the internet. It hadn't arrived and been put to use by the public until a just afterward.  Ever go old school and sort by hand thousands of records, pieces of paper, all stored in boxes. All labeled under various references and catalogs? Well I can tell you personally it's a pregnant dog and it's time consuming. And even today to find some back records you get to visit a courthouse and reminisce.
