What Grade are these pieces?
on: February 15, 2011, 01:34:15 PM
Helllo. I have a piano exam in April and im wanting to Play Beethovens moonlight sonata 1st movement. The only problem is that the pieces have to be of a grade 5 standard or above and im not sure what grade it is. I asked my teacher and she is unsure as well. Could anyone help me out.
I also wanted to know what grade Scott Joplins Maple leaf rag and The Entertainer were. Also Fur elise, Rondo alla turca, Saties Gymnopedies, Pachelbels cannon in D first movement,Claire de lune and toccata and fugue in D minor. Thank you.

Grading systems around the world differ - so the question that follows is which grading system is in use in your particular locale?
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

Moonlight sonata 1st is I think about grade 6 standard, maple leaf rag and the entertainer are about grade 8, fur elise grade 3, rondo alla turca grade 6, gymnopedies are grade 5ish, claire de lune is 6/7.
These are all rough estimates, I don't know how accurate they are! But surely for an exam you are following a syllabus, so you will have to choose the pieces that are selected for that year and that grade???
