Suggestions of pieces
on: February 27, 2011, 08:48:03 AM
Hi, I'm doing my Grade 8 in the autumn, and I've already began learning some of my pieces for that, but I'm looking for some pieces that I could play alongside them to give me some variety. Do people have any suggestions of pieces that they've really enjoyed playing that might be around the right standard for me?
The pieces I've played lately are:
1st and 2nd Debussy arabesques
Rondo and Adagio from Beethoven's Pathetique
Schubert Impromptus Op 90 no 1 and 2
and some other bits and pieces... Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
Thanks  :)

Judging by your username, you might like some Bach?  ;D
I'm not a teacher, but I'm playing pieces more or less around the same difficulty as yours, so I'll just tell you some of the pieces I learned recently/ are learning now. I think your teacher would be the best person to make suggestions for you??

I'm learning Bach's Prelude and Fugue BWV 876 right now... if you haven't played it before, you should. It's gorgeous and should be around your level.
I'm also learning Bach's French Suite no 5, just the Allemande. It is also very nice. Or try French Suite no 2. It's probably my favourite French Suite of all- I've played the whole thing and I like the Sarabande and Allemande the best.
