2011, March 1st. Four preludes
on: March 03, 2011, 02:04:41 AM
Here are four excerpts from march 1st. They sounded like preludes to me so that's what I'm callin' 'em

The first was beautiful, i love the colour and tone of your playing, very emotive, often breath taking with deep base notes contrasted by the top melody. Good use of the slightly calmer passages. Something i could easily just listen too for hours
The second was nice a playful to start, but then developed into a very inspiring feeling piece, kind of like a victory dance. As always in your improvs your texture and chord changes are wonderful.
Number 4 was really eery to start then instantly turned reflective and confusing! Changing feel with every few chord changes!
Overall they were great improvisations as always, very beautiful and emotive.

Great work, Derek! I loved the first especially! It's like you are playing from an invisible score, so to me it sounds like "instant composition"
I like the waltz character in No 4.

Hi Derek,
These are really fun! I, for some reason, love the idea of preludes in general. I think I like that they can be pretty short, and it has this kind of expectancy that something will/can follow. I can hear why each of these may feel like they could use that title. I liked each of them, but I really liked number 4, especially. It had a kind of mystical feel to it, despite or maybe because of the fact that it did explore different feelings throughout.
