Remembering the great Maurizio Pollini
Legendary pianist Maurizio Pollini defined modern piano playing through a combination of virtuosity of the highest degree, a complete sense of musical purpose and commitment that works in complete control of the virtuosity. His passing was announced by Milan’s La Scala opera house on March 23. Read more >>

Waiting till 2012 to go to first rate conservatoire
on: March 12, 2011, 09:27:22 PM
I have been accepted at a conservatoire on a PG dip course (1 year). But I have changed my mind about the place, as I been to this place before (sorry for not telling!), and I didn't feel like anyone there took themselves seriously enough, which was terrible for me, as I very serious. I have been thinking of waiting till next year to go somewhere better, like the Royal College of Music, Royal Academy of Music, Eastman School of Music or the Curtis Institute. Should I just do my PG dip, and then go to one of these institutions? Or should I save my money and protect my ambition, and wait till next year? The problem is I have little money, and don't know what I would do between now and next year! Maybe I could go abroad and study with an eminent teacher? Any ideas would be welcome! Thanks.

It's just déjà vu all over again.

It certainly is. Now are you going to answer my question? Or just type something pointless again?

Why do you not get that we can't decide for you!

It's really like all those "Hi I've played the piano for 1 year. That's my level. Now, what piece should I play?"

Gah! Just do whatever you want!

I could ask you that with some justification. You've asked dozens of times on this board for advice but it is beginning to look as if you're not in the least serious about this, you just like asking unanswerable questions. We can't do it for you, old son.

And oh, the world is obviously coming to an end 2012, so it's really no need to apply then.

You don't have to go abroad to study with eminent teachers. It's also pretty difficult for people who don't know you to pass judgement on what career choices you should take when we have no idea what your playing sounds like.

Why do you piano street people waste so much of your time telling people 'we can't answer this question, we can't answer that'? Don't bother wasting your time and my time answering at all. It's childish. I'm switching to Piano World.

And you really think, after what you've done, we will answer without being rude? And there are plenty of responses in your other topics. Maybe you should reply some (maybe the one about you being a jerk when someone tells you something nice) instead of being a jerk, who gets upset when someone is a bit rude...

Let me see if I can cover everything in one post.

I suggest you attend the RCM and rent a flat in the East End. I then suggest you catch the number 52 bus every morning at 8.36am.

I suggest you purchase Andrex toilet paper and avoid takeaways, especially after dark.

I suggest you marry a girl called Ethel who has 36" breasts and I suggest you have 2 children caled Nigel and Dave.

I suggest you train as a traffic warden in case your career does not take off and I suggest you buy a J reg Ford Escort to go to Tescos.

I suggest you buy red curtains, flatpack bookshelves and a litre of cider.

Hope this helps.

WE *** HAVE ANSWERED YOUR STUPID QUESTIONS! 5 *** BILLOIN TIMES! STOP BEING SUCH PATHETIC SPOILED PIG AND READ ALL THE ANSWERS WE'RE POSTED!

If you don't want us to tell you what a sorry ass you are, then, please, go away and cry for your mum.

And here's the scoop: People don't want to work with spoiled pigs if they aren't the worlds biggest genius. And since you obviously aren't good enough to get a proper scholarship or good enough to know how to play 3 agains 2, I assume you're not a genius.

Stop waste our time with your pathetic questions, and we wont waste our time answering them.

And yeah, report me if you want. Maybe your mum call me and yell to in the phone. Since you're such an ass, I assume that's actually going to happen.

We won't miss you much. Most of us in this thread have in fact made genuine attempts to help in the past but there's such a thing as a boredom threshold.

All the same, good luck. Everyone needs some.

I prefer Dave and Davette. I mean you hvae 25% chance of getting two boys and 50% chance of getting 1 boy and 1 girl. And I'm not sure a girl would appreciate being called Dave or Nigel.

Well, seeing that this Thompson dude buzzed off to piano world and we've strayed off the subject of conservatoires, I just wanted to let everyone know I got a pamphlet in the mail today saying that the end of the world is predicted on May17th of THIS year.  It comes from some bible society.  It's been calculated precisely and they're warning me to turn to Christ before it's too late.  Maybe my little warning to everyone here will earn me a few brownie points when I'm finally judged.

I take it that you are an atheist, birba?

Would you be so kind as to tell me which denomination said that, and what "proof" they have?

Staying off the theology of whether the world is going to end on 21 May this year...

If the world was going to end in just over two months, which piece would you try to learn by then?

How many brownie points do you suppose I would need to get out of the negatives?
