Abram Chasins's arrangement of Gluck's Melody
on: March 15, 2011, 11:33:44 AM
Hi all.

I'm trying to find Abram Chasins's arrangement of Gluck's Melody. I've already found scores of Sgambati's arrangement and Friedman's arrangement, both of which are referenced here:

https://www.pianostreet.com/smf/index.php?topic=25396.0

I can see the score to Chasins's arrangement because it forms the backdrop for this youtube video of Abbey Simon's rendition:

but I've searched everywhere (except for here!) and I can't find the score. Could anyone please help me to locate this arrangement?

Many thanks for any help you can offer. With kindest regards,

Jaime

Go to www.classicscore.ru/a.html and search "G" composers for item #1725. Sorry about giving you the long route, but I'm not very well versed in computer directions. I'd appreciate it if someone would explain to me how to post this location properly.

Hi Harmonica!

Thank you so much for your help - that's exactly what I've been looking for (and all the big printed music publishers in the UK said that I should give up because it was no longer available!)

In order to help you in return (to say "thanks"), if you move your mouse pointer over the link for item 1725, you should be able to see the address of that link appear somewhere on your screen. Exactly where it will appear depends on which browser you're using, but normally the address would show up in the status bar near the bottom of the browser window.

In this case, the address of the link starts something like https://www.scorage.ru/view.aspx?id=A28... This is address of the score itself (which is a pdf file). In order to paste that address into either a forum posting (or an email), right click on the link and select something like "Copy shortcut" (if you're using Internet Explorer) or "Copy link location" (if you're using Firefox) or "Copy link address" (if you're using Google Chrome) - this copies just the text of the address into what's called your operating system's clipboard (it's where text is kept when you copy and paste stuff). Now you can start a word processor or notepad and select "paste" to see the text of the address. If I do that inside this forum post, the following appears:

https://www.scorage.ru/view.aspx?id=A28E66C7AB97267A34DDFAEC0E1EB7F6

(To paste the text into this forum posting, I right-clicked where I was typing, and selected "paste"). As you can see from the address, the long code after "id=" is a reference number that selects the correct pdf score from scorage's database.

Again, thank you so much. With kindest wishes,

Jaime
