Hey guys,
I've been trying to work on Rachmaninoff's Op. 32 No. 10 - Prelude in B minor. (You can download the score at:
https://muslib.mmv.ru/piano/rahm_pred13_10.pdf ). I can play through most of it with music, but I'm having trouble memorizing it. The opening phrases on page 1 (which also re-appear at the end) are causing me trouble. I'm finding that the similar rythyms, different hand positions, and odd combination of hands together memorized are making it hard for me.
I've tried separating each hand and memorizing that, but when I go to play hands together I forget which hand goes which way.
I am also anticipating difficulties memorizing page 2-3 (of the above score 96-97). I'm not sure how to approach the different chords of both hands. Also, when I'm playing through with sheet music, I notice I stutter with some of the chord sequences. I'm not sure if I'm not reading ahead far enough, but something isn't working.
One last question I have is on the bottom of 4 and top of 5 (98-99). I can't seem to make it very connected as a whole phrase. Especially the top of 5, my right hand feels awkward to the point where it isn't smooth or even.
I appreciate any replies. Thanks in advance.
