PF meet-ups around the world? Anyone interested?
on: March 21, 2011, 03:28:50 AM
Quite new here and wanted to know if posters are organizing meet-ups in different parts of the world. Can be social gatherings, concerts, jam-sessions with fellow amateurs etc etc.

Any interest?

I'm certainly down to coordinate one in Hong Kong (my home base). I've organized a bunch of meets on other internet forums and they've been really successful..... have met alot of great people and many of us get on like family today (to the point we're getting drunk together every month or so! :D).

Thought it would work even better here .... esp since we could jointly share our music and work off the performance jitters as well.

Regards,
Rob

Would it be possible to have a famous pianist there?  Like say... Tim Hofman?  Do you think we could get him?

NO!  I want to meet ladypianist!
I think you'd have to be exceptionally independently wealthy to keep up with such a thing.
Anyone else in Rome?  Or Italy?  C'è nessuno che abita in italia?

No. None. Sorry.  :(

My dad speaks some Chinese and worked there for a few years. Almost everyone could speak English anyway. Oh, I do know how to sing We Wish You a Merry Christmas in Chinese!  ;D

It is interesting meeting people one has only talked with on internet.

I went to Amsterdam to meet up with some fellow sheet music collecting nerds from Pianophilia and they were all complete darlings. From this place, I have only ever met ahinton.

I would of course like to meet many others from here, mainly girls aged 30-50 ;D

Regretfully, all of my favourite Pianostreet beauties appear to have gone.

A weekend away with Paris, Bouter Boogie, Letters, that blued eyed Texan who's name I have forgotten and the cute North Korean would be rather pleasing, as long as they did not want 5 star accomadation.

Paris..... _and_ ...??? All of them? Still, I suppose there's nothing wrong with ambition.

On a more prosaic note, Thal dear boy, any time you feel like travelling a few miles upriver there's a cup of tea in it for you in Peckham!

My condo will have a grand in there by this summer. Realize there's only so many times you can walk into Parsons/Tom Lee and pretend to shop for a grand!

Do you know alot of other amateurs interested in a jam-session? There are thousands around HK I think.

Would it be possible to have a famous pianist there?  Like say... Tim Hofman?  Do you think we could get him?

I know this was a joke but I don't see any issues getting famous pianists to show-up ... I can get them once we've got a crew together in a particular city.... and a couple willing to play tour guide for them.

Have you met Irene Veneziano? Super nice girl.

Don't think you need to be wealthy to pull off a meet! Just takes 3-4 in my view and a nice coffee shop!

Well if you are in Brazil eu gostaria muito de poder conversar com voce; if in Italy, sara un poco piu dificile poiche mi italiano e molto teoretico e non practico; if in Hong Kong wo jen xiang tan idyar gwo yu, but I'm afraid I'll miss all those opportunities because I live in Cambodia. But on the off chance there's anyone else from PS in Cambodia please let me know, I'd be happy to meet and play some music.

Hi, I'm interested in a meet-up.  I'm in West London/North Surrey borders.  Would like to contact anyone for a chat and exchange of mp3s - amateur or professional - 20s/30s/40s/50s. As long as you have a passion for the piano  :) :).

20s/30s/40s/50s.
At first I thought that meant music period!  What's wrong with 60s/70s/80s?   My teacher was in her 90s, well famous and well worth a 'meet-up'.
