@things above- TOO LONG, DIDN'T READ. (*insert Trollface*)
My performance level in piano is higher than in contrabass (If you know Simandl, I'm not done with it yet! XD)
I like playing the contrabass, because I want to discover more music, not just piano music, chamber, orchestral etc. I (sometimes) want to be on the rear of the stage on a piano concerto, just to see/feel what it looks/feels like.

The cello is really different from the contrabass because in cello, the 4 fingers of the left hand (also the thumb, which is placed behind the neck of the instrument) are used. While in bass, only the thumb (which is behind the neck again), index, middle, and the pinky finger are used/important, making the 4th finger....weak or something.
(Try this out: Open your hand and spread your fingers. The space from the index finger to the pinky is only a whole tone [for example, you play C on the index finger, then D is on the pinky

] Yep, it's pretty hectic to play scales on a bass. Just sharing

)
Um, I guess I'll just have to work/exercise my left hand x2/3 as hard?
