First of all, this not even close to being the hardest piece ever. In fact, it's kinda easy. For the hardest piece ever, go to Sorabji's Opus Clavicembalisticum. What are you having trouble with? The tremolos are straightforward and easy...

If the tremolos give you trouble, try practicing them somewhat more slowly and with absolute evenness.  Actually, if you do them accurately and evenly, speed is not quite as important.

Even Liszt wrote much more difficult music...Sonata in B, most of the Transcendentals, Totentanz, etc.

Actually, I've always felt that Sorabji's most difficult piece was the Cyclia Sequentia Super Des Irae (or something like that, anyway)  It's fully as difficult as the O.C., and twice as long.  Needless to say, it's never been performed, although one of these days I'll buy the score just to look through and play around with, lol.

I must agree with DarkWind, the 11th is one of the easier rhapsodies, and all the rhapsodies in general are not very hard. Just focus and make the most out of your practice time; all of Liszt's music is very attainable, the only reason most people concider it so difficult is that they themselves lack the discipline to methodically work through his pieces. I'm not saying that you're not disciplined or not serious about piano, rather encouraging you that with persistant and controlled work the piece will eventually become a cakewalk for you.
wOOt! I have a website now! It's spiffy!
