Hi theatlantabravesf !!

MY Dad has won 8 guild awards and he's amazed by how well i play
Hi .... I am an older dad (61) and I can tell tell you that dads universally are proud of the "accomplishments" of their kids whether excellent, average or mediocre. And that is what we refer to as parental encouragement. PLease do not get me wrong, you play better than a lot of kids or adults ...
(it seems you are in your late teens or young adult?? from the appearance of your hands)Pianostreet is informative at the least and quite educational if you are patient enough not only about classical piano but about human beings, their interactions through electronic medium... or the NET. This is a biased population in the sense that many are piano players, so that gives you an inkling and feel into their world versus the non-piano, ordinary Joe.
The place is for the serious and somewhat serious about Classical music .... classical piano. Although the generation gap seems to pop up once in a while when younger posters post modern or even piano adaptations of Japanese "anime" music.... to the horror of the "olds" and the purists!

.... my unsolicited advice is - post only classical music as it is the intent of this place.
There are excellent piano players here .... some are good and very generous teachers who encourage you and will show you what they perceive your weakness is as a pianist and for a particular piece, in a courteous and civil way. Unfortunately, like any forum there will be SNOBS and fault finders, probably a reflection of their subconscious where they can not deal with their weaknesses and their frustrations as failed pianists...

... that is why they pour it on hapless individuals whose only fault is to post a poor quality performance of audio or video.
This place also has funny people .... those who insist on posting trash for audition yet have minds so closed to any advice or criticism ... like the vaults of Fort Knox. You really wonder why in the first place they posted their pieces for audition. This place has also IMPOSTORS who pretend to be accomplished pianists or pianists who have made phenomenal progress.
I am here primarily for my son who does not speak much. Silent, keeps to himself but loves the piano and they say he plays quite well for his age ( i agree!!

). He has learned many other viewpoints from Pianostreet aside from what his teacher tells him. And as I said earlier .... this place has excellent pianists and some good, generous teachers. You can learn from them .... just be patient .... and you can learn from other posts too!
WELCOME TO PIANOSTREET.
