Kabalevsky Concerto No.3 (Youth) difficulty?
on: March 30, 2011, 02:08:02 AM
I am a first year piano major going in to second year and I am wondering if anyone what RCM equivalent level the Kabalevsky Piano Concerto would be? Also, if anyone has played it I was wondering if there is any advice as to how to go about learning it.

Kab's 3rd PC is about medium ARCT. A tip for it is to practice scales in LH and chords in the rh. Figuring out a good fingering is also very useful. Dont rush in the cadenza. Dont rush the 2nd mvt. pay attention to the chords in the coda of mvt 3.
