Shostakovich piano solo repratoire
on: April 02, 2011, 06:52:14 PM
I am searching for a piano solo piece by Shostakovich for one of my advanced students.  I have played his 2 piano Concertino Op. 94 and love it.  I have searched to find a piano solo piece that has a similar sound.  I have not found anything that has the same flavor.  Any suggestions?  Thanks!

The obvious answer would seem to be in the Preludes and Fugues, but if I'm not mistaken, there is at least one piano sonata as well?

There are two. The first is shorter and more intense.

I am fond of the preludes and fugues. They are dirivitave of Bach's, but strange and beautiful at the same time.
