Roman numeral analysis/figured bass guide?
on: April 03, 2011, 02:52:17 PM
Hi,

I'm trying to learn the roman numeral analysis/figured bass notation system, and I was just wondering if anyone here knows of an online comprehensive guide online I can use for study. I tried Googling and only find bits and pieces here and there...

Any help greatly appreciated!

This doesn't really go into figured bass, but gives you a good overview of harmony in a tutorial format:  https://www.teoria.com/tutorials/hf/index.htm

Here's kind of a klutzy explanation of figured bass that you may have found already:

Hope this helps a little!

The text book by Roger Sessions should be available at your local library. If you are going to learn it, at least learn it correctly.

Take Your Seat! Trifonov Plays Brahms in Berlin

“He has everything and more – tenderness and also the demonic element. I never heard anything like that,” as Martha Argerich once said of Daniil Trifonov. To celebrate the end of the year, the star pianist performs Johannes Brahms’s monumental Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Philharmoniker and Kirill Petrenko on December 31.
