Looking for a piece for Brass ensemble and piano
on: April 15, 2011, 01:08:28 AM
Hi all, I am currently pursuing my graduate studies in piano performance now. Some of the brass players in my school plan to do an ensemble piece with me for the fall semester's chamber class, something like piano quartet or quintet (for brass)... i am having headache finding the piece now, we need something with good balance (equally challenging) at all parts. Does anyone out there have something in mind?

Thanks!

Eonta.

Nothing feels as good as performing a piece this easy, right? ::)

Not being a performer of any kind, it's perhaps not for me to answer that question, but I will nevertheless say that it was the first piece that entered my mind when the matter of a work for piano and brass ensemble was put forward. That's all.

Best,

If you don't want to kill yourself playing Eonta, try out Poul Ruders' Break Dance. It is also difficult, but it sounds much more doable. It has a lot of rhythm and energy. It's also short, at about 7 minutes.
