Name that tune
on: April 18, 2011, 03:47:09 AM
 ;D

To be continued.

Post a clip.  Someone can reply with the answer in as much detail as they want.
Piece, movement, section, phrase, motive, etc.  Performer, instrument manufacturer/model, etc.  Conductor, symphony, etc.

Sounds like Nils gave a green light on this and I had an idea about it too.

does it have to be classical music?

There needs to be a limit on what this is...

Or else there'll be a thousand guesses and debates on whether it's a masterpiece by john cage or xenakis or kentaro noda before I tell everyone that it's actually my neighbour farting.

Speaking for myself, I might not be able to tell the difference.

I haven't heard it before.

Something from the Romantic period?

A piano trio of some kind?

Something by Brahms of Mendelssohn?

Stolen from here?  Miriam Gauci?
&feature=fvst

Aria "Ebben? Ne andrò lontana",
from Act I of Catalani's opera "La Wally."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Wally
"The opera is best known for its aria "Ebben? Ne andrò lontana", (Act I, sung when Wally decides to leave her home forever."
"Wally is short for the name Wallburga."

And wally in Italian actually means "stupid?"  So the title of this opera is "The stupid?"  I remember hearing that somewhere...  Yes, it does.  "The Idiot."  And she's the main character, singing this aria.

Not when the opera was written it didn't. It's an imported word, from English, and a very recent addition to the language.

Is there a setting somewhere to record directly from the sound the computer produces?  To record without having the sound go through the computer speakers or through headphones?

Grr... They really need to fix how it deletes your temporary messages if you post twice too fast...

I downloaded Audacity with LAME mp3 encoder.

Under Audacity's edit menu, preference, recording, I set that to stereo to record sounds from within the computer.

And if I highlight sections on Audacity I can fade in and out.  Normalizing is easy.  Compression is there too.

I'll post answers here...
