I Need a Piano Teacher Just for Summer?
on: April 22, 2011, 02:23:20 AM
I have taken piano lessons for about 2 months now, but I am coming home for the Summer so I won't be able to continue with my same teacher.

Is it possible to hire a teacher just for the Summer months so I can continue learning?

Where should I go to find a good teacher?

As a piano teacher I would be happy to help a student of mine find an alternative teacher.......or to direct them to a music teachers' association in their area.

At the outset it would be advisable to let each teacher know your intentions.

I assume it is your intention to return to your original teacher after the summer holiday so it would be a good idea to discuss with him/her the sorts of questions it would be appropriate to ask a prospective teacher.  I would also give you a brief written outline of your program, materials being used and your short term goals to give your 'new' teacher an insight into your tuition to date.

You will obviously need a teacher in your home town whenever holidays come around so it would be useful to develop a rapport with someone who can provide continuity with your piano tuition.

Hope these ideas are useful.

Ask your current teacher if s/he knows anyone in your area. It's probably the best way.
