Problem in choosing what to play
on: April 25, 2011, 04:33:52 PM
I have an audition in a few days and it requires me to perform there one classical piece I know very well three pieces but I cant decide which one to perform. The pieces are:
1.Mozart sonata in C major k545(whole 3 parts).
2.Hayden sonata in D major Hob:XVI/37(5 and a half pages until the Largo part)
3.Mozart fantasia in D minor k397 (whole)
what should i play?

Hi!
In perfect honesty, I don't know any of those pieces but I'd say look at each of them and think of what one is your favourite to play, how good you are at playing it and then which sounds the most impressive.
Grade exam a few years ago, I played a Bach Invention and a little Tchaikovsky piece as well Satie's Gymnopedie No1. After I had played it the examiner asked me which of the 3 I had preferred. I said the Satie and she said she thought so as she was able to hear it in my playing.
Hope that helps. Sorry about not knowing the pieces.
