I was trying to listen to some Sorabji, but after losing the will to live after a few minutes - I decided to listen to something more pleasant to the ears.

So you've given up on that other thread, then, since it was sensibly and appropriately edited? I wonder, though, how many people would be able to listen to this hiss without risking the loss of the will to live (or at least I might do so if I could be bothered)?

No need to answer that, of course!

While the performer is no doubt quite accomplished on his instrument (why he, like some people, feels the need to move like someone is trying to pull a cactus out of one of his orifices I do not know...), I would say he does to the Beethoven what fashion did to his pants..

But what about this one?

In the long run, any words about music are less important than the music. Anyone who thinks otherwise is not worth talking to (Shostakovich)

hahah good points, i just liked the idea of it, given this year is all beethoven 250  , also glad you liked those Rakowski etudes, theyre a neat  rather sizable volume entry in the modern etude lit.

No problem... happy to answer that, and my answer is:

Hopefully, more people than can stand listening to the Sorabji.    ;D

Not the most convincing answer, methinks; for one thing, the "poll" (which was about as unnecessary as the public opinion poll that led to the presumption that more UK voters wanted some form of Brexit than didn't) evidences a contradictory view and, for another, the hiss can be listened to for free whereas people are spending money to purchase the Sorabji recording (as well as the score of the work concerned).

But, in so saying, I omitted to notice the vital word, "hopefully"; in fact, then, what you write is not an "answer" at all but a mere personal "hope"!

Best,

Well, I'm impressed.  That appears to be real.  Or I'm that tired.  I would guess she's actually a trumpet player.  Or voice and trumpet.  Makes sense for the trombone.  The woodwinds and bass could probably be learned on its own.  Piano is probably just learned for jazz.  I'm not sure she's actually playing three trumpets at once.  Two, sure.

All right, three.  No one's going to take that seriously.   One tongue.  Crappy tone.  Only low notes.  It's a novelty.

And I found this.  I'm guessing this is earlier level technique on a bagpipe.

Still impressive though, but I think it's going to get old fast.

Other than the Chacone, the violin for me makes a sound I don't like.  But I really like the cello.  These are videos of Rusanda the virtuoso, not the violin.

I've been watching Ben Zander's interpretation classes. They're not specifically about piano, but I find them really inspiring. He often starts with a teenage or early 20's musician who is focused on playing technically correctly and really gets them to hear the music in the music. The before and after difference is often very impressive. Here's one with a classical guitarist; it's easy to find more.

The same damn bumper music on my classical radio station that they always play.  I know the pieces as over played radio station bumper music now, not as the piece itself.  And, I only know the snippet of whatever piece they keep playing.  I don't know the full piece.

And *** you, because I remembered more.   :o ::) ;D

Looking for a piece of music, but I haven't found it yet.  It's Chopin I think.  Minor.

It's at 4:02 on this video.   I'm thinking about actually pulling this out and playing it.  This question is.... Am I ready for the Fantasie Impromptu?  I haven't worked on a piece of music in years now.... And I think I've got the music just on the other side of the room.   I'm passing a steak and good food here to check.....  Dang.  Nope, not there.  I've got Etude and Preludes, Padereweksi edition....
