Drop some science on you all.

My name is Nellie, and I take pride in helping protect the children of my community through active leadership roles in my local church and in the Boy Scouts of America.  Bad word make me sad.

Listening to the opera "The Abduction from the Seraglio" by Mozart. Entertaining stuff.

Triangle solo line!  ;D  Or a bell, whatever it is.  I'm picturing someone's role being to hit that ping sound throughout the whole song, just playing that one instrument the whole time.

Something slower than post Romantic music here?

https://www.youtube   .com/channel/UC8xpEh3R9c30n90SSeHFRvA/videos
Yeah, it's the youtube channel.

Here's a video.

Beatless.  Or below a beat level that's perceived as a beat, like 35bpm or whatever that level is.  There still are beats from the overtones or something.

And there's a slow change.  There still could be a beat, but if it's slower than you perceive, it's not felt... but still present.  It would be like a beat of change or harmonic beat.

Kind of hypnotic too with the pitches just sustained.

I don't know if I've heard the Katy Perry song though.  It doesn't seem like it quite works.  Maybe a good example of instrumental music that doesn't work with a vocal line added like this.  The words are off too I think.  That's part of it too I think.

Post WWI.  A long ways to go before the great depression ended.  And coming up on a hundred years ago.  I would imagine that's early in adding audio to images too.

Listening to Edmund Rubbra symphony #3 and #7.  The variations and fugue in the 4th movement of the 3rd symphony is a gem!!

Played Bach's Fugue in C sharp minor against itself at the interval of a bar
It didn't sound that bad.

Interesting.  Tried the same using Ton Koopman on harpsichord.  Opened 2 separate youtube windows  and agree that it sounded not bad.  I assume you used WTC book 1.

You may already be a fan of Charles Ives.  You may want to listen to his 4th symphony.  Needs to be a quality recording though like M. T. Thomas conducting Chicago Symphony.

I am currently listening to Roger Woodward playing Debussy Preludes Books 1 and 2.

Very repetitious listening to the 2 very repetitious pieces shown below.  Both pieces last about 2 minutes and 40 seconds.

Both pieces are:
1)   Extremely repetitious
2)   Very joyous and energetic (unbridled jubilation)
3)   Fast tempo
4)   Very loud throughout (except for 1 small spot in the Stravinsky)

But they are also separated in time by over 180 years.

I listen to the Stravinsky followed immediately by the Bach then immediately back to the Stravinsky – back and forth for well over an hour – And I am thoroughly entertained!!

Enough of this insanity – back to work!

Stravinsky – Danse Russe from Petrouchka – Great piano playing BTW!

Bach BWV 615 – “In dir ist Freude” from Orgelbuchlein – Also well played.

I'm listening to complete Chopin solo piano works 13 CD performed by Ashkenazy set that I just bought to go along with the complete Chopin music in 6 volumes published by Dover.  When I say complete, I mean mostly complete.  I'm actually not very interested in the works written prior his age of 18.

And start two recordings together but a split second off.  Add an echo, but gets rid of the bounce in the beat too.

Kenny Wheeler was a beautiful composer - this song, called "Kind Folk" was recorded on a beautiful album called Angel Song featuring Bill Frisell, Dave Holland, Lee Konitz, and no drummer(!)

Poems of Ecstasy – Scriabin’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

The great early 20th-century composer Alexander Scriabin left us 74 published opuses, and several unpublished manuscripts, mainly from his teenage years – when he would never go to bed without first putting a copy of Chopin’s music under his pillow. All of these scores (220 pieces in total) can now be found on Piano Street’s Scriabin page. Read more
