I discovered this on reddit about 30 minutes ago and haven't been able to stop listening to it since.

It's lang lang in drag!
Both incredible pianists, the ensemble is impeccable, she's a camp to watch, etc. but the music is boring, at least to me.  I wonder how much of it was improvised and how much and exactly what was practised together.  They make the labeque twins look like amateurs!

It's astonishing how, whilst still being unmistakably Beethoven, this sounds so Bach-like.

That was beautiful! Way less busy than Bach would make. Lol

Cool.

I have not seen these before.  Very cool.  These a whole series of videos on singing bowls on that channel.

Those bowls have got to be expensive.  Uber expensive.

Haha. The Beach Boys video up there got removed?  Probably from the video?  Or did some computer software find it based on the audio?  Haha.

There's another copy out there.  I listened to this fake one a few times.  Then the real one.  Haha.  I can hear this version in the real one.  Strange effect.

Speaking of Prokofiev..

I was listening to the fourth movement of his Piano Concerto No. 2 at quite a high volume (computer speakers), and 9:40 (a little after that) scared the [censored] out of me. Talk about unexpected volume changes!

I am listening to Edward Elgar improvising. In 1929 he recorded about twenty minutes of improvisation at a studio. The recordings gathered dust until 1975 and haven't appeared in too many places since. I found them  tucked away in an Elgar CD on iTunes; three of them are also on youtube. Suffice it to say that they make nonsense of the notion that Elgar hated the piano and was a poor pianist. My teacher, as a little boy, had informal lessons from Elgar at Llandaff Cathedral. When the composer used to take the choir he was taken by the child's improvising and spent time with him. I don't know why I haven't heard these before. They exhibit that same wonderful soaring and intense surges that only Elgar could produce. This is the sort of playing I can really learn from.  It is characteristic of the disregard the music world has for improvisation that the first transcription of these beautiful pieces was in 2004.

Interesting.  Never heard it.  Not something i would include on my ny debut programme, but it shows the genuine traditional skills he posessed.   If i played it, i would make more a chopin style rather then bach.

Enjoy!

In my defence, I note that he sometimes goes by the Italian rendition Da Vittoria. I could have pleaded a typo!  EDIT - or a misapplication of the -a -o gender rule.

What an incredibly deep and beautiful bass voice did that man have! Besides, without a microphone, he could hold against a whole choir:
