Help with 'trill' please!!
on: May 07, 2011, 10:15:50 AM
Can anyone help with trills please in exam piece 'Menuett in G' K15c, for grade 2. Not sure what notes I should be playing and how to put left and right hand together.
the first trill is in bar 4, and the notes are D, C and B and the trill is above the middle note i.e the C! The three left hand notes are A, F and G.
Any help on how to play these and what notes should be played would be very much appreciated! Thanks, A

Without knowing the piece, only advice i can give is practice trills separately. Take both hands to C-G one octave apart. Now do SLOW trills on C-D with 5-4 in LH and 1-2 in RH . Firstly this trains your weak fingers to play with the strong ones of the other hand so you develop an even touch. Also this helps you get the trills correct from the start. Also do this in other keys. E major (so E-B) is great as teaches trills on black and white keys.
Worst case, omit the trill in the exam if it causes you grief. At grade 2 i highly doubt they would knock significant marks off for it.
