Mendelssohn, Rondo Capriccioso Op. 14 (Intro) for Furtwaengler
on: June 02, 2011, 09:43:09 PM
Okay, I couldn't help myself, I guess (haha ... you can hear some crickets (and it's the middle of the day!)). So, obviously this is open to anybody listening, but I found Furtwaengler's request for this so compelling that I feel I must post what I can of this anyway ... which is mostly just the intro with a little taste of where I'm heading with the scherzo ... but, if I were to play that all the way through, it would just get worse and worse and slower and slower.
Anyway, my heart has to have a say in this whole piano learning endeavor.

Hi m1469!
Very Nice introduction ... perhaps personally I would prefer it a bit slower
and in a more romantic fashion (do they say a bit more rubato?).. but overall
it is an attractive intro.... THANKS.

Hi Emill,
Thanks for stopping by and for your comments! I listened back to it not too long ago and really had a hard time with it, for one because I was surprised at how fast the intro actually sounds, compared to how it felt while playing it (that was the same with my recording somewhat recently of the Rachmaninov prelude, too, for some reason). And, then, I am a little confused by your comments regarding to play it in a more Romantic fashion, and then questioning about the rubato. To me, I noticed what I felt was too much liberty, but maybe I don't have the right perspective (right now I have *zero* perspective on almost anything ... it's like I'm in some huge sea without a clue as to where I am! Oh, well, I've been here plenty of times before
)).
Anyway, thank you
.
