what's the song from olympics commercial?
on: August 20, 2004, 04:27:11 PM
Sorry if this is a silly question, but does anyone know the name of the piano piece being played in the background of the Home Depot commercial that is seen occasionally during the Olympics on NBC?

I've asked some of my friends and none of us know  :-/   Thanks for any help!

I know I saw a commercial that had the Olympic Fanfare (Bugler's Dream) playing in the background, but I don't remember which commercial it was.  I'm thinking it wasn't the Home Depot one though... Sorry.

There was one with Yundi Li on a bicycle (he was dressed as if he were racing--he had all the gear, helmet and spandex and all) and he is racing to a concert hall and he goes into a side door and briskly walks onto stage to the piano and he starts playing Grieg's Concerto in A minor.  And then it shows Yundi Li in a tux playing.  Pretty cool!

It is a cool advert. I love the angle for the opening chords, it's perfect.

It's actually a piece written specifically for the Home Depot spot by my friend, the composer Kostia.  He sent me the sheet music...it's great!

Poems of Ecstasy – Scriabin’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

The great early 20th-century composer Alexander Scriabin left us 74 published opuses, and several unpublished manuscripts, mainly from his teenage years – when he would never go to bed without first putting a copy of Chopin’s music under his pillow. All of these scores (220 pieces in total) can now be found on Piano Street’s Scriabin page. Read more
