Easy but cool pieces for home playing
on: June 07, 2011, 09:43:38 AM
Hi
I am creating a 1-2 hour repertoire for situations where I go somewhere where's a piano and my friends ask me to play something or for long romantic evenings and nights at home.
Could you recommend some pieces? They should be emotional and not very hard to play.
I am more a composer than a pianist, however I think I can play piano quite well, but I want some pieces that I can learn fast.
It should be something like Gymnopedie no.1 from Erik Satie-not very complicated, but requires a lot of feeling or It can be some energical and fast but not fingerbreaking jazz piece. Some pop/rock/metal songs transcribed for piano are also welcomed!
I always played songs on the edge of my possibilies to improve my technique and extend my pallete of expressions, but now it's time to learn something to play just for fun.
PS:Sorry if a thread like this already exists, this is my first post on this forum and I have never visited this forum befor.

You could always try some of the easier Chopin preludes from Op. 28. I don't really know your level of technical skill but I think these ones should suit your needs:
No. 2 in a minor
No. 4 in e minor
no. 6 in b minor
no. 7 in A major
no. 9 in E major
No. 13 in F# major
No. 15 in D flat major ( the famous raindrop prelude)
No. 20 in c minor
