Which Handel fugue is this?
on: June 22, 2011, 12:32:35 AM
Does anyone know the HWV number for the fugue in B minor which is the first piece in this collection?

https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/Album-22-Favorite-Pieces/3141931

There is no identifying information in the sheet music itself. At first I thought it was HWV 608, here:

https://icking-music-archive.org/scores/haendel/H605/HANDEL,HWV608.pdf

But that is definitely not the sheet music for the piece. It is a short fugue in two voices, cut time (allabreve), just titled "Fuga". The forward implies that the pieces are taken from "Suite de Pièces pour le Clavecin", but that is unclear.

Thanks for your help!

It might be another fugue transposed to b minor.
Bach: Toccata BWV 914
Beethoven: Sonata op. 57
Liszt: HR 12
Rachmaninoff: Prelude op. 32 no. 12
Prokofiev: Suggestion Diabolique
Liszt: La Campanella
Rachmaninoff: Piano Concerto no. 2, op. 18

Yes! That's the one. Wow, was it originally for flute and cello?

Hmm, around 1:30 on the video is where it starts to differ from my score. There are a few concluding bars on my music and then it ends, while the video progresses rather smoothly into another movement.

This is Wikipedia on the sonata, which seems to have a confusing history:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flute_sonata_in_B_minor_(HWV_367b)

I guess whoever published the Schirmer book just decided it would work just as well for keyboard?
