Composers of our time that will be remembered?
on: August 24, 2004, 03:39:26 AM
I was wondering if there are many living composers whom you believe will be remembered in the future as greats? Has our time produced many true legends (piano or other)?

Anything you have to comment is wanted.

Remembered in what way?

Among musicians, there will be many.  Among the general public, there will be few to none.

John Williams and Danny Elfman are certainly worthy of note.

Remembered in any way...for example: technicality, compositional skills, virtuosity, etc.

I believe that many of today's film composers will be remembered, most notably John Williams.

Others I think will be remembered include John Adams and Philip Glass. And don't forget, both both Elliot Carter and Gyorgy Ligeti are still alive and composing!
