Help! Price on new Yamaha C series piano
on: July 20, 2011, 03:34:13 PM
I am interested in buying a new Yamaha C1. We have tried a few new C1 and C2 and liked the sound and touch. It sounds much better than the 10 year old used C1's we tried.

The dealer gave me price of $20900 for C1 and $22900 for C2. Are these prices reasonable? How much more I can bargain? I did some research and found the prices listed in Yamaha Japan's website, here is what I've got:
https://jp.yamaha.com/products/musical-instruments/keyboards/grandpianos/
C1 MSRP: 1,470,000 yen (tax included), (about $18,664 US dollar)
C2 MSRP: 1,680,000 yen (tax included), ($21,338 USD)
C3 MSRP: 2,047,500 yen (tax included), ($26,003 USD)

Anyone bought a new Yamaha C series piano recently? Would you please share with me the price you've paid?

Any advise on how much I should ask for on a C1? Any help is greatly appreciated!

We live in USA. Thanks in advance!

No matter what price a dealer gives you, expect to haggle.  It might be a good idea to find out how much this piano costs wholesale to the dealer.  Following that, work out a reasonable profit and come up with a number to offer.

Hopefully some techs and industry insiders will chime in here.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

How can I find out the dealer's cost on New Yamaha pianos? Did some online search and couldn't find a clue.

Thanks, Jimbo! The price shown on this site must be a reference price. What the dealer offered was actually lower than that shown on this site.

The site is a good reference to go by...

The MSRP or list price is usually about 30 odd % of what the piano can be had for. Steinway on the other hand are fixed priced and there really isn't any room for negotiation. I checked that site and they listed my Charles R. Walter for over 11K. I got it brand new for 5400.
